CASE STUDY

Course:
WOBURN GOLF COURSE

Problem:
In heavy rain water lays on the greens and takes a while to soak away making the ground saturated and soft underfoot.

Tried:
Standard drill and fillresulted in slight improvements but still had problem areas.

SoakAWAY:
Core sampling by SoakAWAY identified a non permable lime seam at a depth of 550 - 650mm.

Solution:
We removed a 50mm turf plug from the Green at 1 foot intervals. In these we then send a 32mm wide 1mt log spike down and through the lime seam. The hole is filled with a fine aggregate and the plug replaced. Water can then pass through to the sand and sub soil beneath. The plug heals in a few days and the greens are available for play on the same day.
